These are the BEST DANG BAGELS EVER.
I am not even kidding. These are the most flavorful, best textured and easiest bagels to make. Did I mention that they are also gluten free?!
I made these on a whim after seeing someone do something similar on instagram. I have to tell you, I didn't have much hope that these easy, gluten free air fryer bagels would turn out that great and man was I proved wrong. They're truly the best. I added a lot of garlic powder (bc duh) and the flavor is impecable. If you don't like garlic, definitely use less but I'm not recommending that ;).
You might have to get a little dirty with this recipe and use your hands! If you have to reform the bagels, thats fine too. The first time I tried they did fall apart a few times so just keep working them! They turned out great when they were finished cooking.
I used an air fryer and you can find the air fryer I have here. I heard you can also bake these in the oven but haven't tried that yet! Although, I added how to do it at the end of the recipe if you want to try!
1 cup greek yogurt
1/4 cup mixture sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds
1 egg, beaten
2 1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp onion salt
1 tsp garlic powder (or less if you don’t like garlic)
Splash of water
Everything but the bagel seasoning
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder and spices (minus the EBTB seasoning).
Then add in the seeds.
Once everything is combined, add the greek yogurt and mix with a spatula.
If its not mixing well, use your hands to combine and form a ball with the dough.
Lightly dust a surface with tapioca flour (or the same flour you used).
Roll the dough into a ball over the flour surface and then cut the dough into 4ths.
Roll each 4th out into a 10-12” rope. (Making 4 total).
Sprinkle everything but the bagel seasoning onto a plate or surface and roll the ropes into the EBTB seasoning until coated.
Shape the ropes into bagels.
Beat your egg and add a splash of water and brush the tops of the bagel with the mixture and then add more EBTB seasoning.
Preheat your air fryer to 300 degrees and cook bagels 2 at a time for 13 minutes.
Let cool before serving. Store in fridge.
I have not tried this but I have heard you can also cook these in the oven for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees! worth a shot if you don't have an air fryer. The air fryer I use is linked HERE
